Hello,

now that 2.8.10 has been released here are the plans for the next two
upcoming Sage releases:

- 2.8.11 to be released on November 2nd. The main goals for this
release are:

  * it will be the basis for Sage Bug Day 5
  * bug fixes and small features only
  * we intent to make this compile "out of the box" on OSX 10.5 in 32
bit mode. A lot of the work to make this happen has been done by rpw
and wstein with a little help by your's truly, but these are fixes for
manual builds, i.e. they require interaction during the build.

 - 2.9 to be released before Sage Days 6 in Bristol. The main goals
for this release are:

  * OSX 10.5 support in 64 bit mode
  * Solaris 10 support in 32 bit mode on Opteron/x86
  * Upgrade to LinBox 1.1.4 vanilla + fixes

It is unclear at the moment if all of those will be achieved, but
there is always 2.9.x :)

If you have patches in trac that weren't merged in 2.8.10 please
rebase against 2.8.10 and update them in trac. If you have a patch or
a ticket with a solution that is not tagged against 2.8.11 and you
would like it to get merged please retag against 2.8.11 as soon as
possible.

Cheers,

Michael
