Assalamu aleikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu, It is nice to see so much interest, but with just discussing we are not getting very far. In June, Imen published a list of packages that needed checking on whether they are continuously (regularly?) updated or not. We have had some responses from Abdelmonam, Seddik, Ahmed, and then Ramadan intervened. (Apologies for not mentioning all names.) I think what we need is (as AinulHakim already mentioned in March): 1. A core developer with two back-ups; those three must closely work together, so that each one can take over at the drop of a hat; 2. A number of sub-developers, each with their own specialisation: artwork, networking, Islamic apps, business apps, etc.; yes, I am aware that many people have volunteered; 3. Beta testers; 4. A coordinator, with at least one back-up. Amid all the enthusiasm, what we still don’t seem to have is No. 4, the dedicated coordinator. Personally, and contrary to what some people may think, I do not have much technical knowledge. And a couple of years ago I have had to switch back to Windows, because some applications that are essential for my work (living expenses) simply did not run well enough in VMware or Virtual Box. So, what I can offer is for me to take charge of coordination, meaning, in consultation with the core developer assigning tasks to individual volunteers, agreeing deadlines and following up on deadlines being honoured. If that is acceptable to everyone, let us first deal with Point 1. Point 2 cannot be addressed without Point 1 being in place. So, seriously, who wants to actually take on the role of core developer? It is likely to be a time-consuming task. But there won’t be any impossible deadlines. The final product must simply be excellent and that cannot be achieved with undue pressure. Abdelmonam, you have arranged for polls in the past. Would you be willing to organise two polls, please? One for electing the core developer and one for electing the coordinator? Would the back-ups also need to be elected or can they be selected in consultation with the core developer, resp. coordinator?
