Salam, I read in whoosh v1.0 docs <http://packages.python.org/Whoosh/releases/1_0.html>that it is based now on a new QueryParser that is totally different from the old one, the one which Alfanous parser is based on. So the updating to the newer version whoosh will take a long-time.
