wa alaykom essalem,
i am happy imen to see you here ^^
let me say that i appreciate your propositions especially for sub-community for
girls :)
and i think that we could round up many volunteers inshallah.
i think that it will be -in the beginning- a talkative place about sabily, free
software, etc....that's a good thing because suggestions, critiques , new
ideas, etc..comes while discussing...
and later -inshallaah- it will be a productive place (debugging, and why
not developing new projects ^^, making cute designs, etc....)
i take this opportunity to introduce my offer (in fact i have posted it in
sabily group in facebook yesterday while asking brother Anis ElAchèche about
developers in sabily):
as i am a (contractual) university teacher, i thought to suggest some subjects
of final projects studies for terminal classes (developing new projects,
improving existent projects...).
and to be able to help and supervise students in their projects, i think that i
should know (and practice) the process of development under sabily: from the
spec to the delivery (well, i worked in a company for a year, in supporting
(and developing) projects, so i am not new comer in this domain ^^)
what do you think ?
2011/9/9 Trainer Imen <lifemake...@yahoo.ca>
Assalem Alaykom,
>I’m sis Imen BETTAIEB from Tunisia, it’s the first
time I write to this ML and that’s really a great pleasure for me. I hope to do
my best to be an active member in your community.
>1-Concerning
the Design I liked the idea of brother Arif and I think perhaps we can just
adopt this Idea for themes, wallpapers and screen savers.
>We have 86 Muslim countries and that will be
very inspiring for photos of screen savers, wallpapers and even colors.
Design is very important especially for beginners. Sometimes we want to change
just theme in the same release.
>
>2-I wish I
could read this book brother Arif. But perhaps will you have an English
version later and maybe we will translate it to Arabic.
>
>3-I ‘m thinking also of applications helping Muslims
newly converted in explaining them the basics of Islam but I don’t
know, maybe there are already such apps and I didn’t hear about them.(Apps
which would be useful for children too)
>4- Here I am. The Main goal of this letter: I have an
idea which has taken a long time growing in my mind, probably for years. I want
to discuss it. I want Muslim women to get more involved in this community.
I was thinking to suggest such an idea in the Tunisian team of Ubuntu but I
prefer to do it with persons having religious aims.
>Lately, I have joined Ubuntu Women and this action urged
me to propose such an idea here. Why not Sabily Women : Some advantages
for this project :
>a- First, we have many women with important skills,
they could contribute on the net, one hour per day for example or even per
week. (I’m speaking
about Tunisian and Arabic countries. unfortunately, I haven't
sufficient information about the rest of the Muslim world.
>b- We can perhaps have teams of women in design also.
>c- But I’m not just looking for design, in fact. I’m
looking rather for enlarging the Muslim community of open source and
improving the exchange and cooperation with us.
>-For me, the first step would be educational
activities. I dream of a Muslim community giving courses of computing in Arabic,
English and Malaysian …etc and these courses would be online for all Muslims. I
aspire to contribute by this project in spreading Open source by concentrating
on children in order to have, in a few years time, a generation of young
developers, in cha Allah.
>That was just a brief idea on spreading Sabily
community, I didn’t want to write a whole document or study until I discuss
with you such
possibilities. Is it possible? Is it really worth-doing?
>Never mind, I’m just waiting for your suggestions,
ideas and even critics,…
>Jazekom Allah khayran

>Assalamualaikom
to all Sabily team members,
>Eid Mubarak..
>Is
it possible to get new wallpaper and screensaver for next release Sabily
11.10 Uhud?
>For example for screensaver, a picture at mount
Uhud area like version 10.10 Al-Quds which use a picture around Jerusalem...
>For wallpaper, maybe graphic imagination about
Battle of Uhud ( with mount of Uhud ).
>
>meorbu
>Walaikomsalam Warahmatullah,
>
>Welcome your idea Mr. Arif,
>About codename I think we already discuss about it before and Mr. Mehdi already
decide the codename for the next release.
>Sabily team already use codename by Muslim place for example 9.04 Taibah, 9.10
Gaza, 10.04 Manarat and 10.10 Al Quds.
>Now Sabily team already decide to use important history of Islamic which is
Prophets Battles.
>For example now is 11.04 Badr, next 11.10 Uhud. After that should
>be al-Khandaqh, Quraidhah, al-Mustaliqh, Khaybar, al-Fath' and so on...
>
>About the book, very nice if you can spread it. You can ask help from Bro Cak
Anas for a real and correct fact about Sabily to write on your book.
>In Malaysia we also make it. But the problem is we don't have so many volunteer
to participate then our project is slightly in slow progress. Anyway some
manual in Malay language already spread to new user.
>
>Regarding Gnome 3, you can install it to Sabily if they decide not to use it.
Anyway, Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric had use it.
>
>Maybe Mr. Mehdi or Mr. Abdelmonam will have some comment about your idea later.

>Subject: [Sabily.team] ideas for sabily
>assalaamualaikum
>
>during the month
of Ramadan, I get some ideas for Sabily:
>
>1. code name for each launch would be nice if using the
names of the identity of a Muslim country in the world. eg
for Sabily 11.10 themed edition of Turkey, hence
the name of his code name is
"Istanbul", wallpaper and screensaver contains historic
sites in Turkey or portrays the life of Muslims in
Turkey. Sabily 12.04 edition maybe we can take the
setting of Indonesia with code name "Istiqlal" (the
name of a the largest mosque in Indonesia). and so on ...
>
>
>
>2. by
taking the code name an icon in every Muslim country is
expected Sabily will belong to the entire Muslim world.
>
>
>
>
>
>3. code
name 11.10 maybe I suggested "the
intifada / intifadhoh", with plymouth splash, screensavers, wallpapers, themes, GDM / lightDM,and so
on patterned Palestine, with the original photograph taken of the
beautiful places and historic, eg rivers, lakes , garden, mountain, and
others.

>4. I have
the intention to write a book about Sabily, along libreoffice, with Indonesian
language, which I hope that the Muslims all
overIndonesia to move from using pirated software, towards open
source. and I will use Sabily 11.10 Inshallah. Therefore I would
like to requestyour permission. would you please attach gnome-shell 3
on Sabily 11.10? make it so awesome..so beautiful...
