Based on the chat we had today, I see that this can be done as follows: * The team preparing CDs/DVDs would strip from the current minimal version almost every desktop application (all Office, Sound & Video, Graphics & even Islamic applications and also Games), just leaving empathy & firefox (& maybe the bittorrent client + evolution). * When installing the distribution, we also install an application (let's call it sabily-desktop-installer) to the user desktop, this application should prompt the user when he logs in to install the complete Sabily distribution. (the prompt at login can be done by putting the .desktop file of that application in /etc/xdg/autostart) * If the user accepts, sabily-desktop-install would simply run: apt-get install sabily, to get a complete Sabily desktop. > needs: > list of all packages and their respective size Not necessarily, please read the third point in the suggestion above. > do we have a wiki so we can sort ideas in? I don't think so. -- أحمد المحمودي (Ahmed El-Mahmoudy) Digital design engineer GPG KeyID: 0xEDDDA1B7 GPG Fingerprint: 8206 A196 2084 7E6D 0DF8 B176 BC19 6A94 EDDD A1B7 _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~sabily.team Post to : sabily.team@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~sabily.team More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
