assalamu alaykum,

Here is what I could do:
- a CD with sabily specific packages, created using aptonCD, less than 650 MB. So people could get the standard ubuntu CD, then convert it to Sabily.
- a DVD with sabily specific packages only, about 900 MB.
- a DVD with full packages, about 2 GB.
- a DVD with full packages and offline recitations + thwab books, >3 GB

So people could download the version they want depending on their connection speed and the packages they want.
What do you think?

I think we should think in a different way regarding the minimal version.
if it's more than 700mb then it's not good enough. but also it can't
have all the software that you want.

so I suggest that we do a really minimum CD that only contain the main
packages and the rest of the packages could be added after the
installation directly from the internet.

so the DVD version is for people without fast/internet connection and
the minimal CD version is for people with fast internet.

don't forget that they use aptoncd to make version that they can distribute.

if that is hard then a 2 cd each 700mb version is the solution as I see.

best prayers
Usama

I get an ISO of 933 MB. (the ubuntu ISO is 700 MB)
Hope it is small enough.

Doesn't the deskbar applet, which is installed by default in

It seems deskbar-applet isn't installed by default anymore

If you want other softwares in Sabily say it now ;) (the full list
is available here:

The k* software will pull in KDE libraries, if we want to have a
mini-version of Sabily like someone has suggested, for sure those
should NOT be there.

Yep, I've done some tests and here are some sizes:
Main softwares (134 MB)
Multimedia (171 MB)
Arabic support (21 MB)
Education (545 MB)
Miscellaneous (406 MB)

(packages list:
http://sabily.org/website/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2&Itemid=9)

For the minimal version I'll only install Main softwares and Arabic
support.

@Ahmed: I only see Minbar and Zekr in the "Islamic Software" menu.
There was Thwab, Monajat and Hijra ; could you do something for
that? (Thwab and Monajat are in "Education", Hijra only in the
status bar)

Done & uploaded to PPA !

Jazakallah khairan
