I am running s3cmd-0.9.9.91 on CentOS, and I get the following output
with the command:

s3cmd -v sync --delete-removed backup/postgresql/
s3://MYBUCKET/backup/postgresql/

INFO: Compiling list of local files...
INFO: Retrieving list of remote files for
s3://ssd2.yozons.com-backups/backup/postgresql/ ...
INFO: Found 63 local files, 30 remote files
INFO: Applying --exclude/--include
INFO: Verifying attributes...

The last step takes many minutes, while the compiling the local and
remote lists is very fast. Furthermore, python consumes 35% of the CPU
during this process. My CentOS comes with Python 2.4.3.

Eventually, if found 33 local files to upload, 0 remote files to delete,
and the upload began, but it must have been after 10 minutes or so.

What could be taking so long about the "verifying attributes" step?

Thanks,
David
