I suggest you try s3cmd 0.9.9-pre5 - it's got much better support for
MacOS X. Get it from 'testing' on SourceForge.

Anyway if you prefer to stick with 0.9.8.4 for some reason you should
open s3cmd-0.9.8.4/setup.cfg and remove the 'prefix' line. Simply delete
it. Then run 'python setup.py install' again and it should all work as
expected.
