Hello all. I think all of you who have an internet presence know very well that incredible amount of nonsense connections, robots who do not care for robots.txt etc., and, anyway, how minor the valuable traffic is in comparison.
For several years git web browsing is continuously misused by german IPs. These bots from german IPs are brutally dumb and thus blacklisted very fast, only to come back right away with another (german) IP. It is not a real "attack" in that they come in in parallel, but it is a never ending 24/7 synchronous flow. This is all automatic, and i am under the impression it is effectively backed by only one person, who does not truly care, not energy and whatever, because when i switched away from cgit to gitweb, and many months later back to cgit, it took months before the bot(s) were adjusted. I finally decided to try to do something about it, and enabled HTTP auth for git.sdaoden.eu/browse. The user and password are in the "realm", so when you do curl -I git.sdaoden.eu/browse you see the credentials right away. Now it must be said, whereas lynx shows the realm, firefox unfortunately does not. Sigh. The credentials are thus also on www.sdaoden.eu/code.html. The user and password are moon and mars; it could be this is changed to jeff and elon soon; or something.
