|I like the idea of an error log that I can consult if I feel I need to.
Oh, i would not overrate that thing. It is just, we do not have
a status line where errors could show up, and so.
|But I don't want my prompt messed with when something is added to the
|log. It's not that big a deal.
Ok i removed it.
Let's also no longer mutilate to US-ASCII, just pass through all
bytes that come in (likely a problem only for filenames though).
Will be in v14.10, with credit to you.

|Yes, the login procedure is correct, and I am able to log in. Of
|course I have no idea why you are not able to log in to your account.
Funnily in the meantime a/the "Microsoft account team" managed to
report "New sign-in detected for your Microsoft account", with my
IP (which is different than that of the browser, so yes, this was
the MUA trying to login), as well as

But that is cheap isn't it, american style date with american
style clock and a foreign timezone.

Yes. But does not work.
People are outsourcing email like grazy it seems, just wondering
that GMail was not chosen.
|I didn't set up this account myself. It was forced on me when people
|who ought to know better outsourced their email system to Microsoft. And
|I'm going for a bike ride too.
Man i am so exhausted. By sheer luck it really can be warm and
sunny, what a bliss.

It is gone now.

|Well, the "problem", such as it is, is that I am getting the error
|marker, but there is no entry in the error log. That should be a "can't
|happen" - the error marker is only supposed to appear when something is
|added to the log. But it appears to be happening.
Well, that problem is solved.
|By the way, separate issue entirely, there used to be an 'autoinc'
|setting that automatically checked for new mail every so often, rather
|than making you do 'newmail' by hand. Any chance of getting it back?
commit 6b394c7204

Obsolete *autoinc* (keep only *newmail*)
I hope you use "set newmail=nopoll". In defiance to the
availability of SSDs and NVME.

Ciao from Germany (i keep on trying Microsoft; and will provide
a better hook for an external access token refresher/fetcher).
