That was a conscious commit [a99becbc] (main.c: set
MAILSEND_HEADERS_PRINT for interactive send mode, 2019-07-11).
I work with *editalong*=v, and when not i saw myself hanging.
So that.

 |     1        $ mail $LOGNAME
 |     2        Subject: foo                                
 |     3        To: ralph
 |     4        Subject: foo
 |     5        bar
 |     6        .
 |     7        $
 |
 |I type ‘foo’ on line 2, and lines 5 and 6.  I do not expect lines 3 and
 |4 to be printed.

Ok, i did not do that with *asksub* etc. and/or not *askatend*,
then.  Like that it is a mess!  How about this:
