Granted i do not dig functional programming. But you know, being able to go with a base system was the reason i did not go any further with Ruby even though i liked the language very much, but continued staying perl-only on the script side. Nowadays of course FreeBSD does not have perl no more, and Snow Leopard had Ruby by default. But i have a base system and compile or install perl and am readily setup.
