Yes, i am lurking here and there and see commits or statements fly by which are interesting or somehow make me see. Most of those credits are for indirect contributions, so to say, but definiteley worth mentioning nonetheless, just like i would mention and credit a good Professor (or my Latin teacher) for making me see something that i would have blindlessly stumbled over, or even very often so. For example Matthew Dillon made me realize that we open files for writing without O_NOFOLLOW set, following symbolic links. Or Doug McIlroy arguing multiple times about "less --help" output: we now do something real with -h/--help, and i really would not be astonished if more than ninety percent of all (normal users) will for the first time realize the _real_ difference in between the two receive modes. Sometimes someone hanging carots in my sight which i need to go for, too, like Jörg Schilling stating "Fix doch mal mailx so daß es die Datei einheitlich öffnet.", and so mailx has been fixed to open the files uniformly. But i will not credit you for this addition to NEWS. ^.^ |I used mailx and s-nail during my days with Linux Slackware. I have never really used it, it was SUSE then RedHat then Halloween (RedHat). But then only FreeBSD. I just knew it was the first Linux "for more experienced users", and when i started to use virtual machines in 2011 or 2012 (on MacOS so FreeBSD still) i took Slackware: it is still a private project, no companies and business in sight, and i do not read (german computer) magazines no more since mid 2005, so in fact i did not really had a plan. Hm, still so, of course. ^. I am subscribed to their announcement list, but .. very silent.
