There is attr_encrypted, which will do some stuff

It depends why you want encryption to an extent, if you are worried about 
someone stealing the server, use disk encryption, if you are worried about 
a DBA stealing your data, you could try this gem, but anyone who had access 
to the (running) server will probably have access to the keys so it may be 
a moot point
