Dear All, the authors appreciate comments shared by Acee and Sasha. The updates in this version are to address Acee's suggestion to avoid any modification to the VRRP. We believe that we have addressed his concern by defining the mechanism that ensures the Active Router and any Backup Router use the same My Discriminator value in the BFD Control message of the given p2mp BFD session. We welcome your comments, questions, and suggestions.

Name: draft-ietf-rtgwg-vrrp-p2mp-bfd Revision: 13 Title: Applicability of Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD) for Multi-point Networks in Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) Date: 2025-07-24 Group: rtgwg Pages: 6 URL: https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-ietf-rtgwg-vrrp-p2mp-bfd-13.txt Status: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-rtgwg-vrrp-p2mp-bfd/ HTML: https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-ietf-rtgwg-vrrp-p2mp-bfd-13.html HTMLized: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-ietf-rtgwg-vrrp-p2mp-bfd Diff: https://author-tools.ietf.org/iddiff?url2=draft-ietf-rtgwg-vrrp-p2mp-bfd-13 Abstract: This document explores the applicability of Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD) in multipoint networks to enable sub-second convergence in the Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) for determining the Active Router. Additionally, it defines extensions to bootstrap point-to-multipoint BFD sessions using an IPv4/IPv6 VRRP Advertisement message, and, thus, updates RFC 9568. The IETF Secretariat
