Hi Pablo,

Thanks for sharing.

Some time ago we were working on this to mostly address issues in BESS. Niraj
was driving this.

https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-malhotra-bess-evpn-pe-ce-00

At the time we also discussed whether to define the new TLVs for LLDPv2 or for
L3DL, which is the LSVR protocol for this. We put the work on-hold till there
was more interest by the WG and till L3DL was more mature.

I wonder if you have looked at that document or talked to Niraj about it?
Unless I’m mistaken, it is addressing similar issues. And it is really
independent of EVPN, although you can see EVPN in the name of the document and
in the use case.

Thank you.
Jorge

Hi all,

We have submitted a draft describing an extension to LLDP to allow hosts to
advertise their IP prefixes to their attached routers, which can then propagate
the reachability of those host prefixes into routing protocols for enabling
network-wide connectivity.
Any feedback is welcomed.

Thanks,
Pablo.

Abstract:

Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) is widely deployed today for
discovery of information across network elements like routers,
switches, and hosts. This document extends LLDP to allow hosts to
advertise their IP prefixes to their attached routers which can then
propagate the reachability of these host prefixes into routing
   protocols for enabling network-wide connectivity.
