Hi Tanxin,

Sorry for late replay. Below are the answers to your questions:

1. This draft proposes a fast notification packet used in scenarios such as
congestion notification and failure notification. In which layer does this
packet work, or is it a universal packet applicable to various protocols like
[draft-shi-ippm-congestion-measurement-data]?
[Haibo] The notification packet is a new individual message encapsulated in UDP
and operates at the network layer. It can serve as a common notification
message for different use cases. However, it differs from the packet described
in [draft - shi - ippm - congestion - measurement - data]. In the IPPM draft,
no new packet is used; instead, measurement information is inserted directly
into the data packet.

2. This draft analyses the mechanisms of adaptive routing. Can you provide a
more detailed workflow about the proposed packet to help with understanding?
[Haibo] Adaptive routing is a data-plane mechanism that is highly sensitive to
fast congestion and enables switching. Here is a more detailed breakdown of the
process:
Local Adaptive Routing:
A Forwarding Information Base (FIB) may have multiple output ports. When
traffic arrives, it selects one of the output ports for forwarding. However, if
the chosen output port becomes congested, the system can quickly switch to
another non - congested output port. This is known as local adaptive routing.
Remote Adaptive Routing:
When a boundary network device detects congestion on its output ports, it
constructs a notification message and sends it to the inner network devices.
Upon receiving this message, the inner network devices are informed that the
boundary network device is experiencing congestion. Subsequently, they can
perform remote adaptive routing for the affected path.

3.The content of this draft is within the scope of Fantel, is it possible to
discuss this draft in the Fantel mailing list?
[Haibo] Yes, you are most welcome to initiate a discussion about it on the
Fantel mailing list.

Regards,
Haibo

Hi Haibo,

This is a very useful draft. I have some questions below.

1. This draft proposes a fast notification packet used in scenarios such as
congestion notification and failure notification. In which layer does this
packet work, or is it a universal packet applicable to various protocols like
[draft-shi-ippm-congestion-measurement-data]?

2. This draft analyses the mechanisms of adaptive routing. Can you provide a
more detailed workflow about the proposed packet to help with understanding?

3.The content of this draft is within the scope of Fantel, is it possible to
discuss this draft in the Fantel mailing list?

Thanks,
Tanxin Pi
