I am actually advocating for less future work, not more. ;-) BFD certainly has many applications, as does rfc8562. However, related specifically to this document, I believe that a single RFC is enough to document the applications related to monitoring PIM routers. Note that the reaction to a BFD timeout (for all applications) is simply to follow rfc7761. Thanks! Alvaro.
