I have been trying to tidy up an rsyslog.conf. I felt I should at least
do something with all possible facilities.
I'm continuing with sysklogd format configuration... I don't know if
that's making my life more difficult.
The online documentation (sysklogd_format.html) says:
"The facility is one of the following keywords: auth, authpriv,
cron, daemon, ftp, kern, lpr, mail, mark, news, security (same
as auth), syslog, user, uucp and local0 through local7."
FWIW: the man page I have (v7.2.0) says the same but without 'ftp'...
simple bug ?
Ignoring 'mark', 'security' and the locals that's 12 facilities, which
leaves 4 unaccounted for -- namely the facilities 12..15, which I
believe Linux considers to be "reserved for system use".
I discovered 'ntp' and 'console' also work, which leaves 2 facilities
(13 & 15 -- 'audit' & 'clock') unaccounted for.
So...
1) should there be a name for all facilities ?
2) should the documentation cover 'ntp' and 'console', given that
they are supported ?
