Had a quick question for everyone as I haven't been able to find anything

Is it possible to run a command in RainerScript and store the results of that
command into a variable to be used later in an if statement?

variables are not kept from one log line being processed to the next, so whatever command you would be running would run for every single log line. I don't think that's what you are interested in doing.

There is some stuff on the horizon that could be 'abused' to run commands externally and then load the results into rsyslog, but that's still a little ways out and it isn't what that functionality is designed for.

Can you give a more concrete description (possibly an example) of what you are trying to do?
