A "connection unexpectedly closed" means that the other side went away (or
something in the middle closed the connection), so you need to figure out what
is happening that causes the connection to close. Some suggestions for what to
do are on the http://rsync.samba.org/issues.html page (e.g. see the rsync-debug
script).
