Summary: rsync hangs with --hard-links and unreadable files Product: rsync Version: 3.0.7 Platform: All OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: minor Priority: P5 Component: core AssignedTo: way...@samba.org ReportedBy: cgden...@btinternet.com QAContact: rsync...@samba.org I've stumbled across a fairly obscure situation in which rsync hangs -- it just waits until I press ctrl-C. Here's a transcript. Note that directory 'foo' contains two small files that are hard-linked together, and have no read permission. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- $ uname -a Linux ferox 2.6.35-28-generic-pae #50-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 18 20:43:15 UTC 2011 i686 GNU/Linux $ rsync --version rsync version 3.0.7 protocol version 30 Copyright (C) 1996-2009 by Andrew Tridgell, Wayne Davison, and others.
