Do you have any antivirus/firewall software installed? I once had weird issues
with cwRsync
on Windows and this took two days to find that security software intercepted
some of the low
level win32 api hooks and this interacted badly with cygwin.
I have antivirus software (eSet), but it worked fine with Cygwin 1.5.x.
I don't have rights on this machine to toggle virus software settings,
unfortunately.
