To elaborate: rssh is rejecting the -e option that rsync clients >= 3.0.0 use to convey compatibility information to the server, although security-wise there is no reason to do so. If (as I assume) you can't modify the rssh setup, then pass --protocol=29 to rsync to stop it from passing -e to the server.
