If you are starting the daemon as root, you need "uid = rsyncd" in the configuration file to tell it to become user rsyncd; otherwise, the default is to become "nobody". > >The loss of the connection looks like a separate problem. Since you aren't willing to upgrade rsync, just omit the -z option to work around the problem. Matt
