Are you checking for errors? Does rsync get an I/O error and stop
deleting? (See the --ignore-errors option for one way to deal with
that.)
Not that I'm afraid - I get some errors about files vanishing at the tail
end, but it seems that deleting happens at the beginning.
It is also not permissions as someone else suggested - I'm running this as
root on both sides.
