Very good, indeed. I like it. If there are different options, it should be 
easy to put warnings about slowdowns into the docs. 
And nobody is forced to use it - the behavior of the old option does not 
change, full backwards compatibility provided :-) 
I'd say, please feel free to implement it ;-)
