I like the way that rsync currently handles this for the following reason:

When --links or --copy-links is used, rsync doesn't output a special message to
indicate that something has gone according to plan, it just does what you told
it to do.

The "ignoring unsafe symlink" message is more like the "skipping directory"
message: it indicates that some item was not copied, and thus is a useful
indication that you may need to take additional steps after the copy is done.
