I am simply running the rsync command with nothing else, rsync and press enter. The only reason I am asking is I saw there was a much newer version then I am currently using (2.4.6) and thought about upgrading. Once I compiled (ignoring the warning), I saw this message after it display the usage. I have been using rsync to keep backup copies of our data of several different servers thoughtout our wan so before I switch, I really need to make sure everythings ok with the 2.5.2 version and after seeing that message, I not so sure? - I have no issues with 2.4.6.

Don't worry about the warnings; there are lots because gcc -Wall option was recently added but the warnings haven't been fixed. > Please see the rsync(1) and rsyncd.conf(5) man pages for full documentation > See http://rsync.samba.org/ for updates, bug reports, and answers > rsync error: syntax or usage error (code 1) at main.c(824) > > The last line worrys me. Should i stick with the 2.4.6 from redhat? 2.5.2 has a serious bug, but that's not the symptom. What's the full command you are you trying to give it? - Dave Dykstra
