Hi,

We have two boxes, a Linux box (kernel 2.2.x, rsync 2.4.6 protocol
version 24) and a Solaris box (Solaris 7, rsync 2.4.6 protocol version
24). Both up to date on patches and rsync, etc.

We use rsync to sync files from the Linux box to the Solaris box.
We use (rsync -vvcWr -e "ssh -l username") the checksum flag and SSH,
this copies files, but every now and then some files simply don't get
copied. The verbose output says the file is uptodate, yet it clearly
isn't (different file size and times). Removing the checksum flag
(rsync -vvWr -e "ssh -l username") fixes the situation (that is the
files that it thought where up to date that weren't where finally
copied). I've yet to notice (although it may be happening) problems the
other way around, Solaris to the Linux box.

I'm either not understanding the checksum flag, or perhaps there is
a problem (maybe the way it checks the Solaris file system?). Anyone
care to enlighten me? Has anyone had this problem before? I've
searched google with no avail. I have some more detailed outputs of the
verbose listings if it would be helpful.
