Aaron responded privately and confirmed that using a later version of
rsync solved the problem for him.
If anyone can confirm that *current* versions of rsync and Cygwin have
problems that depend on binary vs. text mounts, I would like to hear
about them, so I can investigate. It shouldn't be a problem.
