To answer that question: No. Installing the CVS on both systems results in rsync just not working. The report is: # rsync -e ssh -avv -n somedomain.com:/dir/path/ /dir/path/ ssh: somedomain.com:/dir/path/: Name or service not known unexpected EOF in read_timeout Note that going back to stock 2.4.6 and resubmitting the same command results in a successful transfer - except for of course being able to transfer a subdirectory without its contents. I assume that somewhere between 2.4.6 and the current CVS the exclude function was fixed to work as Martin reports, and something else was broken. And I should wait on the next release to get functionality on this? \/\/ I-I I T Blauvelt [EMAIL PROTECTED]
