I think you are in the right way, the problem is that you need to play with
the number of whitespaces in the COMMENT option. I don't think there is an
easier way to do what you want.
Now you are always using, for instance 10 whitespaces:
hmc__________hmc
emcon__________emcom
Like "emcon" string is bigger than "hmc" you need 10 whitespaces for hmc and
8 for emc to get the legend aligned:
hmc__________hmc
emcon________emcom
