Adding for info:
I have two old 3GHz HP boxes with F39 KDE Plasma-x11, and have now
removed the rpmfusion 470xx drivers, which used to work well.
One box is useable with nouveau and the nouveau-firmware, specifying
nouveau-drm.modeset=1. Non EFI. HDMI and VGA screens, contiguous
windows, vdpau available.
The other box dual-boots with Windows 10 via EFI. F39 will boot and run
only with nomodeset, to an HDMI 800x600 screen with no HDMI audio.
Other variations of modeset give a frozen boot. dmesg | grep firmware
suggests that the load commands are being ignored.
