i find your system works better than mine.
i was going to write a script to assist the way i was doing it, but i would
have a difficult time figuring out how to split things so they start
lines in a verse, so i'll use your technique.

what i wonder about though is that rg puts all lyrics in quotes and
doesn't produce lp files with lyrics according to the standard conventions such 
as:

-- to split syllables
__ to extend words over notes

so to spread twinkle twinkle out over 4 notes we do:
twin kle twin kle
and the lp becomes:
"twin" "kle" "twin" "kle"
instead of
twin -- kle twin -- kle

this isn't a major problem (for me), but it does mean that the rg -> lp
isn't consistent with lp and the conversion may have to be
a 'starting point' as the manual says. (nice manual btw -
whoever wrote it!)
