Well, I suggested trying a live distro like AV-Linux just to see if the same
problem happened there. I've used AV-Linux to get working audio configs for
problem systems because it seems to handle audio better than standard distros
like Debian or Ubuntu.

Maybe when your current project is done, try it again. If no problems, compare
audio configs related to JACKD, qjackctl, PulseAudio, etc.

By the way, jack_capture has a command line option that tells it not to start
recording until JACK transport tells it to start. I use that with RG all the
time. Start play in RG, jack_capture starts recording. When play stops, so does
jack_capture's recording. :)
