a2jmidid has been totally invisible for me. One checkbox in Studio Controls (or a line in JACK settings). Need it between my old USB 8x8 MIDI Interface and Reaper. If there are problems with a2jmidid, I'm sorry, I just haven't seen it.
(People also say Linux Reaper is experimental and but after 280 hours with no crash, runs fine on 2007 Core 2 Duo 2 GHz, 2 GB RAM, I have to say I can't trust anyone).
