Hello Jaap,

I am certain 10.04 is full of selection bugs.  I know one of my contributions 
post 10.04 dealt explicitly with selection in the notation editor and handling 
forward and backward ties. Getting tied ntoes to be selected as a unit.

I also recall Michael, twiddling with the selection of notes as well since 
actually picking the note was problematic as well.

I'm certain you will get much satisfaction in this area if you upgrade.
