Dear Rosegarden Community,
I've been using RG for many years already, but the percussion has never
really worked for me. I could live with it until now, but now it turned
out to be a real issue, and I can't solve it although I have spent quite a
number of hours for it - that's why I'm turning to you now.
Details:
I've tried almost all the RG versions since 2004, the problem is the same.
Currently I'm running SuSe 11.4 with RG 11.02, but I tried several other
versions with the same result:
OS: SuSe - 10.0...12.12
Kubuntu 11.04...12.12
MIDI environment:
Clavinova CLP970 connected to PC.
I also tried a CVP ???? model of Yamaha with the same result.
Tried both: usb-sound and through game port.
Clavinova is configured as "local controll off", so that it doesn't
process keyboard events internally, instead it transmits them as inputs
for RG through MIDI-OUT, and the MIDI module of the Clavinova is
controlled by its MIDI-IN, driven by the output of the RG.
Symptoms: Configuration is working fine except, that the percussion track
(channel 10) dies (meaning: no percussion sound is heard) as soon as I
press the play button in RG. As long as I just keep recording additional
tracks, the existing stuff is played back correctly during the recording,
but if I do a playback, the CH10 gets unavailable, and it remains in that
state until I do power-off/power-on on the Clavinova. :(
