I don't think anything is missing. I experimented with multiple versions this past weekend (I was trying to track down a MIDI issue that ultimately had nothing to do with RG) -- the 11.x version installed via Ubuntu, the last stable source release (12.04?) and SVN trunk (whish is more or less what the new release is), and each was able to find my hardware, synth ports and ipMIDI/qMIDINet MIDI interfaces as needed. Doesn't RG start up Jack on it's own now if it's not already running. One thing for the OP to check is to make sure that jack_midi isn't being used, because I don't think RG uses that yet (only the ALSA seq) -- Brett W.
