Hmm. I've never had to do that. But then, I don't think I've had any of the 4 I use do such a crash and burn. I don't use Zyn because I've had it hang too often for me. Hmmm. I don't a disconnect all, I just close each program in the order I opened them in. Without KDE4 - it starts up too many KDE system processes and consumes too many resources for me. So my experiences might not accord with yours.
