Nope, neither can I.  I put a fairly serious amount of effort into testing 
this one, and while there are three or four annoying glitchy problems 
associated with resizing audio segments (with and without holding shift), a 
crash associated with xruns definitely isn't among them at all.

As such, considering that the user is running 10.02, an upgrade to 11.06 might 
be indicated for starters.

This sounds like the kind of thing one might employ a sampler for.  I know 
utterly nothing about samplers, but there are a good number of people who live 
and breathe that stuff who can probably direct you.
