Dear All, CSIRO has recently announced a new round of PostDoc positions in a range of research areas in the organisation - see:- http://www.csiro.au/index.asp?type=faq&id=PostDocResearchAreas - take the link to "Minerals". In this round, 20 positions have been allocated across the whole organisation, but there has been some 100 requests from Divisions, so allocation (or not) will be based on (i) priority of the work area defined, and (ii) quality of the candidates.
As part of this process, I have requested a PostDoc position to help me build synchrotron related capability in a number of areas important to the Division of Minerals. I am keen to drive some developments using in-situ analysis, so there will certainly be some development of appropriate sample presentation devices. I anticipate the use of a range of analytical techniques, and imagine that XRD, SAXS, XAFS will be important ones to include. Also, there will be considerable interest in the use of combined micro-analysis techniques (u-XRD, u-XRF, u-XAS). The application areas are broad and likely to include mineral processing, especially pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy, environmental science and geoscience. Details of my PostDoc request (and how to apply) can be found at:- http://recruitment.csiro.au/asp/job_details.asp?RefNo=2004%2F1026 Fellowships are available to Postdoctoral graduates who have attained, in the last 3 years (or will shortly satisfy the requirements for), a PhD degree in related disciplines. Overseas applicants are welcome. If you are offered a Fellowship you will be required to apply for a Work Visa with the Department of Immigration. Applications close: 26 September 2004 Cheers o----------------------oo0oo---------------------------o Ian Madsen Science Adviser - Analytical Science CSIRO Minerals Box 312 Clayton South 3169 Victoria AUSTRALIA Phone +61 3 9545 8785 direct +61 3 9545 8500 switch 0417 554 935 mobile FAX +61 3 9562 8919 Email [EMAIL PROTECTED] o----------------------oo0oo---------------------------o
