Post-doctoral Position at SUNY Stony Brook
We seek individuals interested in crystallographic studies at high
pressures or crystallographers interested in being trained to use high
pressure techniques. The position will provide opportunities for structure
solution from powder and single crystal data and will include designing
experiments, pursuing research and interfacing innovative high pressure
cells to beamlines at neutron and X-ray sources. There is considerable
scope for the pursuit of individual projects.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in the physical sciences within the last 5 years or soon to be
completed. Prior experience with high-pressure research is highly
desirable but not required. Excellent experimental skills, experience with
data analysis and a significant publication history are required.
Experience with Synchrotron radiation/neutron sources, and particularly in
diffraction or scattering techniques (crystalline powders, amorphous
materials or single crystals diffraction) is also very desirable.
Candidates will be offered a competitive salary commensurate with
experience. Significant travel to national and international centers will
be encouraged. The initial offer is for one year with reviews for
reappointment and salary adjustment at the end of every year. Provided
progress is satisfactory a total of a four-year appointment is possible.
For consideration, please submit your Curriculum Vitae and publication list
along with a cover letter outlining current research interests and names of
