For those of you searching for compounds with unknown
structure for applying SDPD methodology, there is a mine ;-).
A large number of minerals were given a name without any
complete structural study. The difficulty is to determine
which ones because many databases remain unclear about
that question : is the structure known ? A starting list of > 300
minerals with apparently unknown structure is available at :

Most of them can simply be bought from gemstone vendors.
The true number of minerals with unknown structure is
very probably much larger. If you have some names, please
send them to me.
