Recently there have been a spate of automatic "confirmation"
messages to Rietveld postings. Last week I emailed the 'offenders'
but it is continuing. Please people, check the options in your email
reader and switch OFF these gadgets. There is already an email
mechanism to notify NON-delivery, so notification of delivery is
unecessary, and incompatible with a listserver anyway.
While I'm complaining, please also switch off the "visiting card"
attachment gadget - again it is completely unecessary, since you
can include a (hopefully short) automatic signature at the bottom
of your emails.
Indeed ALL unsolicited attachments are unwelcome. If you want
to distribute a document, put it on your WWW or FTP server, and
just point to it in your posting, or if you don't have a server, invite
people to email you for it specifically.
Finally :-) only quote short pieces of any email you are replying
to: everyone got the whole thing anyway. And please don't repeat
the whole thing again in http format. (Did I say finally :-)
