Ay up, I followed the suggestions of how to tackle this that Jonathan Matthew posted on my bug report.
I just did a sync of the iPod that I've not used since I moved from OSX (grumble) and now my playcounts have been updated to my library. I then updated the playlist I was syncing to the iPod and tried again, and it seemed to work, although the UI locked up somewhat during the copying of new files, hopefully it was always like that? https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=664075 Can anyone test this or comment on the implementation?
