You can rip an audio cd as an image file (and not separate tracks) with a
cuesheet to tell your player/burner where the tracks start and end. It has
the advantage of preserving the original structure of the cd completely
accurately, including any gaps, pregaps etc. Then instead of having two
files (image + cuesheet), you can also store the cuesheet within the image
file itself, instead of as a separate file, hence the name embedded
cuesheet.
