That exact topic have just been discussed in Bug 154671 – Don't add artist name to list http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154671 and the solution may not be so easy=( iTunes have solved the problem by an option to remove an artist from the list, which Bug #154671 is about.
