Hey James, I'd like to add support for the first item, but it's unlikely to happen in the near future. In theory, it'd be possible to write a custom extension that piggy-backs on the Slack support to notify users however you see fit when review requests are updated or discussions occur, but there's a lot of different ways people have Review Board set up out there, and we'd have to figure out how to sanely notify the right people on a Slack based on their Review Board user, and based on reviewer settings.
The second is a feature request we've had more generally (e-mail, usually). This would be a good feature to add, but is not currently on the roadmap. There are some things coming in 3.0 that might help toward this, in that Review Board will track what stage the review request is in (waiting on reviewers or waiting on the owner). This feature could definitely be built as a custom script, and I know some companies have done so. Just to throw this out there, we do sometimes take on custom development projects under contract. If your company wants these features written sooner and tailored for the setup you have, with an eye toward future compatibility, we could discuss options there.
